Healthy Lifestyle Challenge #5
Ladies and Gentleman,
We have had some discussion on the committee as to the number of points alloted to each area of the challenge. The question posed was whether or not our current point scheme allowed for a maintainable lifestyle after the competition or if it was more competition based.
To that end we are proposing the changes noted below. You will note that the changes are highlighted in yellow. We feel that these changes make the competition more realistic with regards to maintaining after the competition is over.
As we want all (or a majority) of those participating to feel like this is there competition I am asking that we vote on the changes. While you are gearing up and choosing your weight loss goal, weekly challenge, diet plan please vote yea or nay for the changes.

Also remember that there are ten points given to you this week if you maintained (within 3 pounds) your end weight from the last competition, don't forget to submit those points end the end of the week if you earned them.
Current Point schedule
Points:
Points will be awarded as follows:
1 pt a day for drinking 64oz of water (8 cups)
1 pt a day for sticking to your diet plan
14 pts a week for doing 3 days of exercise
*3pts per day for only doing 1 or 2 days of exercise
1 EXTRA pt per day of exercise you do above the 3 days, up to 3 extra pts a week
3 EXTRA pts per week for keeping a daily food log
100 pts for reaching your weight loss goal. You will be awarded points depending on what percentage of your goal you lose. For example, goal of losing 10 pounds, you lose 5, you will receive 50% of the points, which would be 50 pts.
4 pts a week for completing the weekly challenge
1 pt a week for submitting point totals to Ryan by Sunday evening each week.
10 bonus points for losing weight, maintaining your weight or not gaining more than 3 pounds since our last challenge.
70 possible water points
70 possible diet points
170 possible exercise points
30 possible bonus food log points
100 possible weight loss points
40 possible weekly challenge points
10 possible submitting points
10 possible beginning weight bonus points
500 points possible Total!

Come one Come All,
We will be starting another challenge on beginning Monday, April 6 2009 (tomorrow). Just in time to go from fat to fit and slip into a bathing suit for summer!! If you are interested in joining the challenge please read through the attached disclaimers and waivers, kidding they are simply the guidelines and familiarize yourself with them. As you are reading them if you have ideas as to how we can better the challenge please let me know and I will present them to the committee.
If you have questions regarding the challenge, how to get mildew out of a bathroom, why Christopher Columbus was wrong about the earth being flat, or other similar type questions please feel free to email me or leave a comment here, either way I will respond as quickly as possible.
To start all you need to do is indicate to me, via email, that you will be joining us. You will also have to submit the following:
your eating plan (by this I mean simply are you following weight watchers guidelines, strictly the food pyramid, or some other diet).
you will need to indicate your weight loss goal for the 10 week period. I do not need to know how much you weigh only the number of pounds you would like to lose. If you are at a healthy weight you may chose to simply maintain that weight.
I will also need you to submit your weekly challenge
You will need to have each of the above submitted no later than Saturday evening April 11, 2009.
Finally an entrance fee of $10.00 minimum, you can give more if you chose.
This fee will need to be submitted (checks made out to me) no later than May 9, 2009. A confirmation email will be sent to you once I have received your entry fee. This will be the prize for this time around. See the rules for a breakdown but simply put each of the top three finishers will receive a cash prize.
If I have not received your entrance fee you will not be allowed to complete the challenge and you will be doomed to five weeks of unprecedented weight gain.
