Blands Bombers Return for Round 3

Sorry for the misleading intro on the home page, I have to try and increase the odds that somebody is actually reading this.

And there you have it, Heather wins by a landslide. Never before have I seen someone take the lead so early and never look back but instead continue to gain steadily making the entire final four and championship game a non factor. CONGRATULATIONS should go out to Heather.

I hear that she will be offering her services next year to improve your chances. There of course will be a small fee, after all what can you expect the economy is terrible and Obama only promises that it will get worse and someday eventually maybe it will improve.

Sunday, April 5, 2009 - As predicted not alot of movement this week and the final game will not lend itself to any exciting upsets. So, although it pains me I guess I will have to give-in and CONGRATULATE Heather for taking the third annual bracket challenge, another girl!

Stay tuned for next year when the guys will come out with guns a blazing and never look back!!!!

Sunday, March 29, 2009 - And so we have it. As I said in the last post this will be the first year that the final four and the championship game will not play a big role in determining our champion. Unless I am wrong, and that is possible, there is nothing that can change Heather from winning.

If anyone can see a situation that would cause another victor other than Heather please let me know, it pains me so to declare Heather the winner so I will not do so until it is official.

Just a quick History lesson, Heather has participated each of the past three years and has led in all three years for a substantial period of time. In its first year she ended with some poor final four selections and dropped to sixth place. The second year she took the lead early and held on for a long long time but in the end was taken down by Nicole. This year she grabbed the top spot after the first full day of games and never looked back.

Without handing her the trophy, bragging rights, officially it appears that we all need to take some lessons from Heather.

If only Louisville had been able to win today, darn!

Sunday, March 29, 2009 @ 4:30 - Well, it looks as though Heather will finally take her spot at the top. It is about time, I mean come on you have been at the top of the game three years running and have never been able to close the deal. However this year you appear to have taken it. There are only a few scenarios that would keep you from being the third female victor in the Bland’s Bombers competition.

Who would have thought that Michigan State had it in them to go all the way, obviously nobody here, except for Heather. Wow I don’t have much to say. Take notes this is a first. I mean I cannot even make to many predictions that would possibly upset Heather. This is the first year that we have had such a diverse group of champion picks thus making it Heathers to lose.

Remember, even if you are mathematically eliminated you can still cheer against who ever Heather has picked to win the game!

Saturday, March 28, 2009 - Alright, everyone is now asking me (and it hurts to admit this) but Heather HOW DO YOU DO IT? No one is conceding the victory to you but even if you do not win you will have, for the third year in a row, held the number one spot for a majority of the tournament. How does she make her picks?

On that note we are getting down to the nitty gritty of it all. This game really did not have much of an impact but alot can change as many of the top five left now have different picks, points will start to change hands and nobody is safe.

Stay tuned for an exciting evening tonight and a much more significant few games tomorrow.

Sunday, March 22, 2009 - Those pesky women will just not go away. I think maybe next year I am going to have to up the stakes in order to get the guys to take this pool as serious as they do their office pools. I mean come on, how many office pools are won by women?

Enough on that, props have to be given to Heather for holding onto the top spot through the first week end of play. She really has picked a solid bracket this year. Don’t get all mushy eyed there Heather, the trash talk will start again say around Thursday of next week.

Although “Little L” thought with his heart for the champion he too has had a pretty good first weekend. Also the first champ of this here tournament is holding her own.

Keep checking back and start looking for the all knowing predictions of your truly beginning next weekend.

Saturday, March 21, 2009 @ 12:57 AM -Like a broken record I have to keep saying WOW how does Heather keep doing this? Every year she manages to take the top spot and hold onto it for a good long while. Now she has never won, HA-HA, but she sure does like that number one spot.

Friday, March 20, 2009 @ 9:34 - With the first 3/4 of the games over we have had a pretty good shake up. Finally some men have pushed the women out, except for one. The first spot is held by Heather, have fun for the next few hours cause it will surely not last.

Unfortunately all Utah teams were a huge disappointment and will get to enjoy the rest of the tournament in the comfort of their own homes. This seems to be the reason for the shake up. It is rare that I feel like I wasted time watching any game in the big dance but both BYU and Utah were just that, a waste of time. I hope not too many of you voted your hearts when it came to the Mountain West.

Get your game hats on and prepare for another exciting round tonight and throughout the weekend.

Friday, March 20, 2009 @ 12:40 AM - And I thought I could get to bed before the final games concluded. I was on my way and then I thought I would see if maybe, just maybe the girls upset pick was going to hold on. Wouldn’t you know it, the game was going to come down to the wire. I had to watch, and although I am always for the underdog in a close game with all three women picking this one I had to hope against all hope that Illinois would pull it off . . . they didn’t and now the top three spots are filled by the girls. What is up with this, Heather will certainly fall but Crystal has proven herself time and time again so I think we are in for another long tournament guys.

Thursday, March 19, 2009 @ 10:40 - Well the first day is almost over and it looks like the women are doing quite well. A previous winner is in the top spot and Heather is still ahead of me. There is one upset brewing and all three of the women in the top four have picked the upset. This could be another one for the women. We will see where they stand tomorrow morning!

Sunday, March 15, 2009 - That’s right, we are back at it. With all the Conference tournaments over and the selection process complete the brackets are out. once again the Bland’s Bombers will see who among us is the best at predicting the unpredictable.

In its third year the Bland’s have taken home top honors in each of the previous two rounds. Unfortunately for all men involved, Bland or not, each of the first two rounds were also won by women.

Men this MUST be our year, preferably a Bland Man but really any man winning and taking the title from the girls would be welcome.

The first game is set for THIS Thursday (March 19) so don’t procrastinate. I have sent an email invitation with instructions on how to get in the game for those that participated last year. If you did participate and did not get an invite it is probably because you no longer use the email address you had last year, simply email me with your new address and I will shoot you another invite.

If you did not participate last year but would like to get in the game simply email me with your email address and I will shoot you the invite email as well.

Lets get this party started, BRING IT!!!
